Kinfolk TIMELESS 2026

About

In the latest editorial campaign for Kinfolk, titled TIMELESS, the intersection of architectural structure and soft, tactile minimalism takes center stage. Captured through the lens of photographer Gregory Chong, the project presents a series of portraits that lean into the quiet confidence of high-end fashion. Art director and set designer Owen Lo orchestrates a deliberate visual language, utilizing mottled beige, olive, and solid black backdrops to ground the subjects in a sophisticated, monochromatic palette. Styled by Una Yun Nam Ho, the collection emphasizes clean tailoring and heavy textures, from chunky-knit sweaters to oversized suits and minimalist dresses. The imagery masterfully employs a mix of studio strobe and natural light to emphasize the sharp silhouettes and drapery of the garments. By pairing subjects with sparse, rustic props like bentwood chairs and taper candles, the work feels cinematic, capturing an aesthetic that prioritizes subtle, high-key lighting to draw out the intricacies of fabric and form. Makeup artist Jenny Shih contributes a refined, neutral look that allows the clothing to retain its role as the primary narrative device. This project serves as a compelling study in editorial portraiture, successfully distilling the essence of luxury fashion into a series of images that feel both grounded and timeless, highlighting a seamless collaboration across art direction and creative styling.
