The Vintage Black Canada project, commissioned for the Ken Seiling Museum, documents historical narratives through a series of editorial portraits and documentary interior studies. Photographer Alexander Jacobi utilizes natural light to capture the texture and atmosphere of the museum’s historic spaces, leaning into a monochrome palette for character-focused imagery and a warm-toned aesthetic for architectural details. Featuring Aaron Tyler Francis, the editorial portraits employ high-contrast shadows and grainy textures to frame the subject within the museum’s rustic interiors. These images are balanced by documentary stills of archival garments and period-accurate artifacts, highlighting a collection that emphasizes historical preservation and nostalgic storytelling.
