InStyle Mexico
The Self

Jul 2026
In The Self, InStyle Mexico explores the intersection of high-concept luxury fashion and raw, unfiltered documentary photography. This fashion editorial campaign serves as a masterclass in minimalist composition, utilizing a sharp, deliberate interplay between monochromatic studio environments and unexpected pops of vibrant orange. Photographer Tawfick captures the essence of the modern wardrobe, stripping away artifice to focus on the interplay of textiles and form. Under the precise eye of fashion editor and stylist Paulina Zas, the looks move from structured, heavy blazers to fluid, layered silhouettes, effectively championing an aesthetic of editorial minimalism. The project leans into the tactile nature of its subjects, highlighted by the intricate hair styling of Kenta Koda and the refined makeup artistry of Ingeborg, which bring a polished edge to the model Paulina Kube’s natural presence. The deliberate use of 35mm film and analogue techniques evokes a cinematic, behind-the-scenes intimacy, turning what could be a static portfolio into a dynamic study of human movement. Supported by Colin Phelan’s clean set design, the images oscillate between formal portraiture and surrealist experimentation, ensuring the narrative remains centered on the garment's construction. Through this lens, the series redefines standard fashion documentation, transforming everyday accessories like floral props and kitten heels into high-fashion statements that feel both contemporary and enduring within the broader luxury fashion landscape.
