ICON Magazine Italy
Black Salt
Apr 2026
For ICON Magazine Italy, the Black Salt editorial campaign masterfully juxtaposes the refined elegance of luxury fashion against the raw, untamed volatility of a volcanic landscape. Under the precise lens of photographer Alessandro Burzigotti, the project channels a cinematic mood that feels both timeless and grounded in contemporary aesthetics. The editorial utilizes high-contrast natural light to emphasize the interplay between the sophisticated tailoring curated by fashion editor Edoardo Caniglia and the jagged, lichen-covered basalt formations of the setting. With models Achille Genet and Emile Danckaert capturing a sense of quiet, atmospheric stillness, the narrative leans into the inherent tension between human polish and geological permanence. Technical precision serves as a through-line for the project, which relies heavily on 35mm film and medium-format capture to achieve its distinctive, grainy texture and authentic colour depth. By blending formal menswear with the rugged geography of the Mediterranean, the work feels like a study in textural contrast. Every frame, from the stark full-length portraits to the intimate, lifestyle-oriented interactions, benefits from a deliberate casting process by Barbara Nicoli and Leila Ananna. Supported by the subtle grooming of makeup artist Manuel Ian Farro, the final images evoke an evocative, documentary-style approach that elevates luxury fashion into a haunting, visual meditation on environment and style.
