H&M
Dorit Cape Town

Apr 2026
For the Dorit Cape Town project, H&M delivers a masterclass in swimwear editorial photography, stripping away the clutter of traditional retail advertising to focus on raw, emotive beauty. Captured with a lens that prioritizes texture and atmosphere, the campaign features model Dorit Revelis in a series of intimate portraits that oscillate between studio-based control and the untamed energy of the South African coastline. Photographer David Portela employs a sophisticated mix of analogue film techniques and sharp studio strobe lighting to craft an aesthetic that feels both timeless and grounded in contemporary lifestyle values. The visuals lean heavily into high-contrast monochrome and chiaroscuro lighting, emphasizing the natural silhouette and the tactile quality of the swimwear fabrics. With expert hair styling by Andrea Martinelli and precision makeup artistry from Regina Törnwall, the imagery highlights the subject's windswept curls and genuine expressions, creating a palpable sense of warmth even in black and white. By utilizing 35mm film grain alongside the minimalist beachside setting, the campaign successfully elevates a standard product launch into a high-end fashion narrative. This collection balances playful, gestural poses with quiet, introspective moments, ultimately presenting a sun-drenched, authentic vision that redefines the seasonal swimwear aesthetic through a sophisticated, editorial lens.
