BELLE EPOQUE for GQ Korea is a masterclass in editorial portraiture, masterfully balancing the weight of historical sartorialism with a contemporary, high-fashion sensibility. Captured through the lens of photographer Yoon Ji Yong, the series leans into a mood of contemplative refinement, utilizing a sophisticated interplay of texture and form to reimagine classic silhouettes. The project moves fluidly between monochromatic austerity and rich, tactile detail, featuring models like Yugo Takano in pieces that range from structured Elizabethan-style ruffs to delicate, lace-adorned tailoring. By employing a diverse set of techniques—including the soft, even diffusion of studio strobe lighting, the nostalgic grit of 35mm film, and subtle 3D render / CGI embellishments—the imagery achieves a timeless, cinematic quality that feels both curated and raw.
