Description

Cry Me A River is a menswear fashion editorial for GQ France, conceptualised through a series of emotive, high-key studio portraits. The project leans into themes of vulnerability and performance, often using the recurring motif of a singular, glistening teardrop to contrast with the rigid tailoring and avant-garde textures of the garments. Photographer Lee Wei Swee captures the subjects against minimalist white and soft-gradient backgrounds, utilising directional lighting to emphasise skin texture and the tactile nature of the styling. Fashion editor Lisa Jarvis leads the creative direction of the looks, which range from classic houndstooth blazers and mohair knits to more eclectic Y2K-influenced pieces and sheer ruffles. Hair stylist Asami Maeda and makeup artist Hicham Ababsa support the editorial narrative through precise grooming, often focusing on dewy finishes and wet-look hair that reinforce the project’s central aesthetic.
