Joy of Missing Out

Mar 2026
The Joy of Missing Out project for D Repubblica serves as a masterclass in editorial fashion, stripping away the noise to prioritize form, texture, and the raw interplay between human physicality and modern object design. Through the lens of photographer Justin Leveritt, the series channels a distinct sense of sculptural movement, capturing models in dynamic, gravity-defying poses that feel as much like performance art as traditional portraiture. Fashion editor and stylist Ioana Ivan expertly anchors these high-concept shapes with a curated selection of delicate, lace-trimmed garments and unexpected color palettes, creating a juxtaposition that feels both polished and intentionally unconventional. The aesthetic thrives on the tension between structured, industrial elements and the softness of sheer tights and pastel-striped fabrics, resulting in a cohesive visual language that remains clean and rigorously minimalist. By oscillating between crisp, natural light environments and the precise, sharp highlights of studio strobe setups, the imagery leans into a high-contrast style that demands attention. With hair styling by Shunsuke Meguro and makeup by Iga Wasylczuk reinforcing the sharp, blunt-cut geometry of the models, the project feels like a curated study in restraint. It is a striking exploration of negative space and textile detail, successfully transforming the act of stillness into a sophisticated fashion narrative that feels entirely modern.
