Jennie Kim

Aug 2026
For the Fall 2026 issue of Cosmopolitan U.S., creative director Samantha Adler and photographer Grayson Vaughan deliver a masterclass in modern editorial photography, casting K-pop sensation Jennie as the multifaceted face of the magazine. This expansive project centers on a series of high-impact covers that lean into a bold, monochromatic aesthetic, utilizing vibrant, saturated studio backgrounds that perfectly anchor the subject against the typography. By opting for studio strobe lighting, the team creates a clean, high-key atmosphere that allows the intricate details of the fashion—ranging from delicate lace and satin to bold sequined textures—to take center stage. Under the guidance of fashion editor Brandon Tan, the styling navigates a spectrum of moods, effectively balancing playful, ruffled silhouettes with more structured, avant-garde pieces. The collaboration is elevated by the precise hair styling of Evanie Frausto, nuanced makeup by Lee Sol, and set design by Milena Gorum, ensuring each frame feels cohesive yet distinct. These covers operate at the intersection of commercial appeal and high fashion, proving that even within the constraints of a traditional magazine layout, there remains vast potential for striking visual storytelling. By marrying precise color-blocking with sharp, deliberate composition, the team captures Jennie with a poise that demands attention, ultimately redefining the magazine’s visual identity for a new season while maintaining the commercial integrity essential to the medium.
