The Skin of Our Teeth is a fashion editorial series commissioned for Cero Magazine, focusing on avant-garde silhouettes and the tactile interplay between the human form and experimental textiles. The project leans into minimalist studio aesthetics, utilizing clean backgrounds to emphasize sculptural shapes and dynamic motion. Photographer Kotaro Kawashima captures the collection with a focus on abstract framing and texture, often employing soft natural light and long-exposure techniques to create ethereal, painterly compositions. Fashion editor and stylist Ayumi Perry works with voluminous tulle, sheer fabrics, and architectural garments, supported by hair styling from Kazu Katahira and makeup artistry by Mical Klip. The imagery prioritizes fluid silhouettes and material studies, moving between monochromatic portraits and expressive, high-contrast motion.
