FONTAINES D.C. LP COVER

Aug 2026
The latest visual identity for Fontaines D.C. transcends standard music industry marketing, leaning into a moody, surreal aesthetic that feels both haunting and hyper-modern. Through a series of striking compositions, photographer Elizaveta Porodina captures a visceral, cinematic atmosphere that defines the band's current sonic evolution. The project utilizes a sophisticated interplay of high-contrast lighting—specifically low-key chiaroscuro techniques—to frame subjects in deep, saturated reds and electric blues against impenetrable black backgrounds. From a figure suspended within a translucent, bioluminescent glass orb to the stark, iridescent focus on a single high-heeled boot, the imagery relies heavily on 3D render and CGI integration to create its distinct, otherworldly texture. The visual narrative is further sharpened by the collaborative input of set designer Miguel Bento, whose work provides the structural tension necessary to ground the more abstract, surreal elements. With precise hair styling by Lachlan Mackie and avant-garde makeup artistry by Porsche Poon, the portraiture distorts traditional features to evoke an ethereal, experimental quality. Typography serves as a structural anchor across the campaign, with bold, sans-serif text cutting through the darkness to underscore the project's alternative identity. By fusing traditional photographic methods with complex VFX, the team has crafted a cohesive, visual landscape that feels like a fever dream, successfully translating the band’s raw, emotive power into a compelling piece of contemporary media and entertainment art.
