Zen Sekizawa is a dynamic photographer, director, and artist rooted in the vibrant culture of her hometown, Los Angeles, CA. As a proud second-generation Angeleno and fourth-generation Japanese American, Zen's work reflects a unique intersection of identity and creativity. A graduate of the esteemed Art Center College of Design, where she earned her BFA in Photography, Zen has cultivated an impressive portfolio, collaborating with a diverse array of high-profile clients including Sonos, Vans, Sephora, Jaguar, Sony, Jimmy Choo, Corona, Apple, eBay, Google, Netflix, T-Mobile, Modelo, Playboy, The New Yorker, and Wired. Her artistic vision transcends traditional boundaries, showcasing her versatility across multiple disciplines. Among her notable projects, Zen contributed to a book titled *You and I See Why* published by Hesse Press and co-founded the innovative furniture and design collective Mano Ya with fellow artist Mario Correa. Her artistic collaborations extend to the music world, where she has created striking visual narratives for musician Angus Andrew of Liars and The Linda Lindas, as well as for shoe designer Tiffany Tuttle of LD Tuttle. In addition to her client work, Zen has provided creative direction and photography for Niki Nakayama of the acclaimed n/naka Restaurant, further establishing her as a leader in the culinary arts. Currently, she is embarking on an exciting new venture: a feature-length documentary exploring the legacy of The Atomic Café, a legendary punk rock institution and a cherished part of her family’s history. Through her multifaceted work, Zen Sekizawa continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art while celebrating her rich cultural heritage.
