Warren Elgort is an accomplished American film director and photographer, renowned for his dynamic storytelling and captivating visual style. Born in the vibrant heart of New York, he is the son of esteemed photographer Arthur Elgort and acclaimed opera director Grethe Holby. With a rich cultural heritage—his father’s roots trace back to Russian-Jewish ancestry, while his mother’s lineage encompasses Norwegian and British Isles influences—Warren was immersed in a creative environment that nurtured his artistic sensibilities from a young age. Warren completed his education at Trinity School in New York before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Writing with honors from Johns Hopkins University. During his time in Baltimore, he not only honed his craft in writing but also made an impact by teaching creative writing to inner-city middle school students for two years, showcasing his commitment to mentorship and education. Additionally, he excelled in athletics, earning All America Athletic Honors in tennis. Warren launched his professional journey in the film industry as a Digital Imaging Technician and 2nd Camera Assistant on a low-budget film, swiftly advancing to the role of 1st Camera Assistant for notable cinematographers such as William Rexer and Mihai Malaimare Jr. In 2013, he co-founded Angler Films, where he directed both short narratives and documentaries. Two years later, he established his own production company, focusing on commercial projects. His work has graced the pages and screens of prestigious publications and brands, including Town & Country Magazine, Glass Magazine, Paper Magazine, Cultured Magazine, Nowness, Universal Music Group, Kodak, Forever 21, Oscar de la Renta, Alice + Olivia, Smythson, and 451 Media. Beyond his commercial endeavors, Warren takes joy in capturing the essence of his friends, family, and emerging models through portrait photography, sharing these intimate glimpses with his growing audience of over 100,000 followers on Instagram. A true family man, Warren collaborates closely with his sister, Sophie, a talented fashion photographer, and recently directed a music video for his brother, Ansel, who is also an accomplished actor.
