Vellas began his career as an art director in the fast-paced world of advertising, where he honed his skills directing title sequences and motion graphics. This foundation laid the groundwork for his seamless transition into narrative filmmaking, where he quickly made a name for himself. In 2013, Vellas burst onto the international scene with “Soul,” a striking black-and-white short film created for the iconic photography brand Leica. The film garnered significant acclaim, winning prestigious awards at the Cannes Lions, D&AD Awards, and Clio Awards, and securing a spot in Saatchi & Saatchi’s esteemed New Directors’ Showcase. Since then, Vellas has collaborated with some of the world’s leading agencies and brands, including Ubisoft, Ford, Citroen, Mitsubishi, Renault, and Rémy Martin. His impactful campaign “#shutupdeath” for Médecins du Monde, the French medical humanitarian organization, received multiple accolades, including a Bronze Film Craft Lion. Additionally, Vellas was chosen by Coca-Cola to direct one of the short films in their Christmas trilogy, produced by Pretty Bird in partnership with Prime Video. Vellas' versatility extends to television, where he directed the second season of the critically acclaimed Brazilian series “Arcanjo Renegado” and the third season of the hit show “Dom,” both for Prime Video. As a filmmaker, he revels in the challenge of crafting intricate action sequences and seamlessly integrating visual effects, while also embracing minimalist storytelling that showcases his signature gritty and visceral directing style.
