Bio
Tom is a distinguished editorial and commercial photographer based in London, known for his compelling visual narratives that bridge the worlds of documentary and photojournalism. With a rich background in capturing critical social issues, Tom’s portfolio spans a diverse array of subjects, including the plight of migrants in Europe, the life of Cornish trawler-men, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and the complexities surrounding beef bans in India. His insightful contributions have graced the pages of esteemed publications, including The New York Times, and he made his mark in 2020 with a feature in National Geographic Magazine. Tom’s work has garnered significant acclaim, being recognized in prestigious competitions such as the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize and the Prix Bayeux Calvados Award for War Correspondents. He was named a winner in Magnum Photos' 30 under 30 initiative and has received accolades from the Canon / Royal Photographic Society Undergraduate Bursary, an IdeasTap Innovators Grant, and Portrait of Britain. His evocative photography has been showcased in notable exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery, FOTO8 / HOST Gallery, Margaret Street Gallery, and Third Floor Gallery. In 2012, he was celebrated as one of the British Journal of Photography’s ‘Graduates to Watch.’ Furthermore, in 2014, he shared his expertise as a visiting lecturer at Cambridge University, focusing on the art of documentary photography. Tom earned a First Class Honours degree in Photography from University College Falmouth in 2012. When he’s not behind the lens, Tom can often be found embarking on cycling adventures, exploring both the stunning landscapes of the UK and the majestic heights of the Himalayas.
