Thessa Geertse Meijer is an award-winning director renowned for her distinctive style that masterfully blends dreamy magical realism with a touch of humor. Her remarkable talent first garnered attention with her commercial debut for Ace & Tate, which earned her the inaugural Young Director Award at the 2020 ADCN Awards—an accolade that speaks volumes about her prowess in both commercial and narrative storytelling. Graduating from HKU University of Arts in 2015, Thessa quickly made her mark in the film industry by receiving the esteemed Dioraphte Award at the Netherlands Film Festival, along with a Wildcard from the Netherlands Film Fund. This early recognition paved the way for her mid-length television film, "The Day My House Fell," which captivated audiences at various international festivals and was selected for the Debut competition at the Netherlands Film Festival. Her creativity further shone through in the music video "Mind Dear," which premiered on Nowness, screened at the SXSW Film Festival, and earned a nomination for the 3FM Award for Best Video. Notably, her project "HEAT," a short romantic comedy horror featuring the debut of Dutch influencer Famke Louise, was also showcased at SXSW in 2020, highlighting her versatility as a filmmaker.
