Bio

Theo Stanley is a dynamic New York-based director, cinematographer, and visual artist whose multifaceted expertise spans the realms of film, fine art, and commercial media. With a distinctive blend of classic photographic techniques and an innovative, experimental eye, Theo crafts films that resonate with both depth and artistry. In 2003, following the completion of his Master of Fine Arts degree, Theo founded New Mountain Inc., a creative production company dedicated to harnessing his vision as a director, cinematographer, and editor. His work quickly garnered recognition, establishing him as a leading figure in the commercial moving image sector, particularly within the realms of fashion, luxury branding, and elevated documentary storytelling. In 2010, Theo took a significant step in his career by co-founding HARBOR PICTURE COMPANY alongside director and editor Zak Tucker. This collaboration expanded the company’s capacity to produce a diverse array of projects, including narrative films, documentaries, music videos, and high-profile commercials, with a particular focus on fashion. HARBOR has cultivated a prestigious clientele that includes renowned New York advertising agencies, as well as direct client partnerships with iconic brands such as GAP, adidas, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, St. John, Beyoncé, Nautica, Chanel, and Estée Lauder. Among his recent notable projects is the 30-minute documentary portrait of fashion visionary Yohji Yamamoto, titled 'Yohji Yamamoto: This is My Dream.' Theo's artistic collaborations extend to the celebrated filmmaker Bruce Weber, with whom he has worked on various projects including moving image campaigns for Ralph Lauren and Chanel, as well as Weber's feature documentaries "A Letter for True," "Chop Suey," and the highly anticipated "Robert Mitchum: Nice Girls Don’t Stay for Breakfast," which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2018. Theo also served as Director of Photography for Chiara Clemente's critically acclaimed documentary feature “Our City Dreams,” which has been showcased at prestigious venues such as MoMA, Film Forum, and on the Sundance Channel. An accomplished academic, Theo graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Photography from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. His commitment to the visual arts and storytelling continues to inspire audiences and collaborators alike, as he pushes the boundaries of cinematic expression.
