Tessa Law
Bio
For stylist and creative director Tessa Law, inspiration abounds at every turn – from film and travel to the arts and nature. Her love affair with fashion began 23 years ago working as a model on major editorial campaigns before moving into buying and trend forecasting for WGSN. “I think how you dress is an expression of your personality” she says. With a distinct point of view, a sharp eye for detail, and a passion for experimenting with colours and layers, Tessa cultivates a signature style that is classic yet edgy. A versatile creative director and producer, her work has appeared in Russh, Marie Claire and David Jones. Her work spans editorial, commercials, campaigns, and celebrity dressing, working alongside the likes of Asher Keddie, Simon Baker. My signature aesthetic is… modern classic with a masculine feel or sport luxe with tailoring – it depends on the day. I like to play around with my style depending on my mood. My favourite kind of brief is… I like working on editorials that I have creative freedom on so I can really see my vision come to life. My energy on set is… enthusiastic, big, happy. My greatest source of creative inspiration is… most of my creative inspiration comes from books, magazines and film. I love Wes Anderson films for inspiration. I’d love to work on one of his films. My favourite location to shoot in is… my hometown of Byron Bay – afternoon beach light can’t be beaten. If I could shoot an editorial of anyone (living or dead) it would be… I would love to style David Bowie – he would be incredible to play dress ups with. My career highlight to date has been… working for David Jones on this season’s trends or having my name printed in Marie Claire as the stylist on an editorial piece with Asher Keddie. My favourite part of the job is… I feel fortunate to be doing something I love every day and that comes so naturally to me. I love the creative process from start to finish but also the production side.
