Bio

Steven Wilson is a dynamic Illustrator based in the vibrant city of Brighton, UK. Originally hailing from North London, he discovered his passion for art amidst the eclectic charm of Brighton, where he pursued his studies in the esteemed Illustration program. The city’s liberal spirit and its embrace of the unconventional captivated him, inspiring a creative journey that reflects the quirky and the extraordinary. A frequent explorer of local flea markets, Steven finds endless inspiration in the obscure—scouring for vintage books, forgotten trinkets, and discarded treasures that ignite his imagination. His artistic influences are as diverse as his surroundings, drawing from the vivid imagery of circus posters, the nostalgia of Victorian postcards, the allure of fairgrounds, and the intricate beauty of tribal body art. He characterizes his work as an intriguing blend of pop and psychedelia, inviting viewers into a visually rich and experimental world. Steven’s creative process mirrors the eclectic nature of his influences, utilizing a wide array of materials and techniques. From traditional mediums like pen, pencil, and paint to innovative tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator, he crafts pieces that are both contemporary and timeless. Particularly passionate about designing album covers, Steven relishes the permanence of this medium, stating, “I love the idea that with an album sleeve, the artwork is forever associated with that album, creating a little piece of history.” Through his art, Steven Wilson not only captures moments but also weaves them into the fabric of cultural memory, making each piece a lasting testament to the music it represents.
