Stephen Lewis is a renowned photographer celebrated for his exquisite still life compositions that distill subjects to their most captivating and essential forms. His artistry is deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for observation and an appreciation for the beauty of both luxurious and everyday objects. Through a diverse array of techniques, Lewis masterfully captures everything from high-end consumer goods to the mundane artifacts that shape our daily lives. For over two decades, Lewis has cultivated his craft from his studio, first in Tribeca and now in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Originally from Washington, D.C., he honed his skills at Syracuse University before relocating to New York City, where he gained valuable experience working at the influential Light Gallery and as a photography assistant, eventually launching his own successful practice. In 2000, Lewis received a significant commission from The Fragrance Foundation, creating a striking smoke-themed installation for both print and film. This award-winning series was showcased at the prestigious Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, in New York, solidifying his reputation in the art world. His adventurous spirit led him to travel the globe with editor and writer Matt Hranek, where he photographed 100 iconic timepieces for the acclaimed book, *A Man & His Watch*, published by Artisan. Lewis's editorial work spans a broad spectrum of prestigious publications, including *Numéro*, *T*, *Condé Nast Traveler*, *Vogue*, *W*, *On the Rocks*, and *Bon Appétit*. He has also crafted compelling advertising campaigns for luxury brands such as Bulgari, Hermès, Salvatore Ferragamo, David Yurman, and Ralph Lauren, showcasing his versatility and keen eye for visual storytelling. Residing in Brooklyn with his wife, two sons, and Gus the dachshund, Lewis continues to explore the intersection of art and everyday life through his lens, inviting viewers to appreciate the extraordinary in the ordinary.
