Sophie Brändström, a distinguished documentary photographer born in Stockholm, brings a unique perspective shaped by her extensive academic background in sociology and psychology from London. This foundation led her to the Fort Lauderdale Institute of Art in Florida, where she honed her craft in journalistic photography. Her career as a photojournalist flourished at the Boca Raton News and the Miami Herald, where she dedicated four impactful years (1992-1996) to capturing the nuances of American society. Drawing from her rich American experience, Brändström became a member of L’Œil Public, a collective of photographers based in Paris. Her work is deeply rooted in human stories and the intricate relationships between people and their environments. "I engage with communities over extended periods, fostering intimate connections with individuals from diverse backgrounds, driven by an insatiable curiosity and a commitment to witness their realities," she explains.
