Sasha Rainbow

Bio

Sasha Rainbow is a New Zealand born, award-winning director who has worked across multiple disciplines including film, art direction, costume and photography. Her inspiring short film 'Kamali' centres on a 9 year old girl who bucks the culture and stereotypes of her native India to become a skateboarder. The film won at too many film festivals to mention, as well as bagging Sasha a BAFTA nomination. Sasha has been a BFI Network X BAFTA Crew alumni since 2018 and in 2020 was selected as one of eight women for the Women In Film mentorship scheme in Los Angeles. In 2019 her work for the Toyota Olympic and Paralympic Start Your Impossible campaign was the largest of its kind in South East Asia. Her directorial flare shines in her most recent work for EE ‘Hope United’, KFC, Puma, and Apple and music videos for Wild Beasts, Placebo and Suki Waterhouse. Sasha believes in the power of storytelling to showcase true heroic role models, which, she thinks, is just what the world needs.
