Sara Forrest
Bio
Sara Forrest’s journey as a photographer began amidst the expansive landscapes of her native Kansas, where she first picked up her mother’s 35mm Nikon. It was here that she embarked on documentary projects that delved into the lives of local residents, uncovering the art of storytelling through authentic human connections. This early exploration ignited a lifelong passion for capturing the essence of people and their narratives with both honesty and artistry. Today, Sara divides her time between the vibrant cultures of Texas and Washington state, collaborating with some of the nation’s most esteemed production teams. Her work encompasses a diverse array of lifestyle image libraries for global brands, taking her on remarkable adventures—from the rugged beauty of the Patagonian wilderness to the bustling rooftops of Cape Town and the sun-kissed beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Her photographic repertoire is as varied as her experiences, featuring intimate portraits of refugee farmers in Kansas, serene yoga instructors in Malibu, dynamic car campaigns in Austin, impactful nonprofit initiatives in Ethiopia, and vibrant underwater scenes in the Florida Keys. Beyond her lens, Sara is a multifaceted individual with a wealth of interests. She and her husband are avid competitors in reined cow horse events, proudly tending to their two quarter horses. With a college degree in human biology, she can engage in discussions about life sciences, while her background in ballet—studied in New York on a scholarship—showcases her artistic versatility. As a skilled metalsmith, she passionately creates her own jewelry and shares her home with a rescue parrot, adding further layers to her rich tapestry of life. Sara’s curiosity about the world is mirrored in her photography, which exudes a warm, inviting openness that makes viewers feel as if they’re reconnecting with an old friend. Through her lens, she encapsulates the beauty of human experience, revealing the extraordinary in the everyday.
