Sang An
Bio
Sang An is a renowned photographer born in Korea, celebrated for his exquisite work in food, interior, and still-life photography. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising Photography from the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology in 1996, a foundation that would set the stage for his dynamic career. Upon graduation, Sang felt a magnetic pull towards New York, driven by an ambition to carve out his own path before returning to Philadelphia, where his parents had generously offered to help him establish a small camera shop. Over the next two years, he honed his craft by assisting various photographers and stylists, immersing himself in the vibrant world of visual storytelling. Initially embracing the role of a stylist, Sang's trajectory took a pivotal turn thanks to a serendipitous meeting with a stylist he had assisted, who encouraged him to pursue photography full-time. In an unforgettable moment of creativity and determination, he delivered his portfolio in a vintage 1950s metal lunch box—a unique find he had passionately negotiated for at a flea market on 25th Street. Inside, he placed twelve carefully curated photographs that would soon capture the attention of industry leaders. Within just an hour of submission, he received a call from Hearst Publications, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey that would establish him as a notable figure in his field. Sang An continues to push the boundaries of photography, transforming everyday subjects into captivating visual narratives that resonate with audiences globally.
