Reid Rolls is a dynamic photographer whose journey from the sun-soaked shores and rugged mountains of San Diego, California, to the bustling streets of New York has shaped his unique artistic vision. Growing up immersed in outdoor adventures, Reid spent countless hours riding BMX bikes and skateboarding, nurturing an adventurous spirit that would later translate into his photography. His passion for photography ignited at the tender age of 11, when he accompanied his father—a talented photographer with an innate eye for composition—to his BMX and motocross races. Capturing the excitement on film, they would spend Saturday nights at the local one-hour photo lab, eagerly developing the images that would allow Reid to share his experiences with classmates. These moments became a source of validation for the introspective boy who often felt overlooked in school; for a brief time, the photographs allowed him to connect and feel a sense of coolness. Nearly three decades later, as Reid sifted through a collection of prints from his father's college photojournalism days, he gained a newfound appreciation for the profound impact of still photography. He began to see how images could evoke emotions, shift perceptions, and unveil the extraordinary within the ordinary. It wasn’t until after graduating college that Reid fully embraced his calling as a photographer. Picking up a camera for the first time in the summer of 2008 was a transformative moment—an instant connection that propelled him to immerse himself in the craft. Within six months, he left his career as a mortgage broker to pursue photography full-time, diving headfirst into the world of portraits, particularly within the vibrant music scenes of Nashville and Los Angeles. In 2010, Reid relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where he refined his portraiture skills and quickly gained recognition. His talent led to opportunities photographing album covers and publicity images for major record labels, culminating in a role as the Staff Photographer at Atlantic Records. New York’s dynamic landscape inspired Reid to expand his focus beyond music, exploring branding and advertising photography. He transitioned from Atlantic Records to work, capturing compelling campaigns for a diverse array of national and international brands. His impressive client roster includes renowned names such as Airbnb, American Express, AT&T, GQ, and Universal Music Group, reflecting his versatility and keen eye for storytelling through imagery. Reid continues to push the boundaries of his craft, driven by his passion for capturing authenticity in every frame.
