Bio
Peter Bohler is a distinguished visual storyteller whose artistry harmoniously intertwines craftsmanship, vibrant color, and thoughtful composition, all while immersing himself deeply in his subject matter. His evocative photographs delve into the intricate connections we forge with our environments and each other, capturing the essence of gatherings, subcultures, travel, and sports. Raised in the picturesque landscapes of rural New Jersey, Peter was influenced by his Swiss-American parents, who cultivated sheep and crafted pottery, instilling in him a profound appreciation for both nature and artistry. His formative years were spent exploring the breathtaking terrains of the Catskills, Adirondacks, and White Mountains, which ignited his passion for the outdoors. Initially pursuing an engineering degree at Dartmouth College, a transformative bike trip across Sweden and Finland inspired him to pivot toward a life behind the lens, where he could meld his adventurous spirit with his love for photography. Peter's international portfolio spans five continents, ranging from solitary expeditions in the rugged wilderness of British Columbia to dynamic, 20-person productions in the bustling heart of San Francisco. His work has garnered numerous accolades, including selections from American Photography and medals from the Society of Publication Designers, as well as the prestigious Swiss Photo Award and recognition as one of PDN's 30 emerging photographers. In 2019, he was a featured speaker at AFAR's Travel Tales, and his captivating imagery has been showcased by notable platforms such as A Photo Editor, The Morning News, This Is The What, and PDN. With each frame, Peter Bohler invites viewers to experience the world through a lens of connection and exploration, making his work not only visually compelling but also deeply resonant.
