Bio

Perry Ogden, a distinguished photographer and filmmaker, was born in Shropshire, England, and spent his formative years in London before establishing his creative home in Dublin, Ireland. Renowned for his striking imagery, Ogden's work has graced the pages of prestigious publications such as Italian Vogue, Luomo Vogue, British Vogue, W, The Face, and Arena. His commercial prowess is underscored by successful advertising campaigns for iconic brands like Ralph Lauren, Chloe, and Calvin Klein. Alongside these commercial endeavors, Ogden has pursued deeply personal projects that reflect his artistic vision. Notably, his acclaimed series, *PONY KIDS*, was published by Jonathan Cape/Aperture in 1999, capturing the essence of youth and freedom. His evocative photographs of Francis Bacon’s studio, *7 REECE MEWS*, were published by Thames and Hudson in 2001 and have been exhibited extensively at esteemed institutions, including The Hugh Lane in Dublin, Fondation Beyeler in Basel, and Fondation van Gogh in Arles. Ogden's cinematic talents came to the forefront with his debut film, *PAVEE LACKEEN (The Traveller Girl)*, released in 2005. The film garnered numerous accolades, including the Satyajit Ray Award for Best First Film at the London Film Festival and the Irish Film & Television Award for Best Film, solidifying his status as a multifaceted artist. Recent exhibitions include ‘Inspiration’ at the Sebastian Guinness Gallery in Dublin, showcasing works that have influenced Ogden alongside his own photography; ‘Twenty’ at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), which celebrated the museum's first two decades; and ‘Decade’ at IMMA, highlighting recent acquisitions. In early 2023, he participated in the group exhibition ‘Like a Horse’ at Fotografiska in Stockholm. His most recent book, *PADDY & LIAM*, focusing on the lives of Traveller brothers Paddy and Liam Doran, was published by IDEA Books in 2018. In 2019, Ogden's 16-minute film *FÍ*, commissioned by the Design and Craft Council of Ireland, was screened in major cities including Dublin, Paris, Tokyo, and New York. A documentary film about his life and work, *SKIN&SOUL: THE LIFE AND WORK OF PERRY OGDEN*, directed by Ciara Nic Chormaic, premiered at the Dublin International Film Festival in March 2020 and was released in 2021 following additional festival screenings. Through his diverse body of work, Perry Ogden continues to challenge and inspire audiences across various artistic mediums.
