Nathan Fox
Bio
Nathan Fox, born in 1975 in Washington D.C., has cultivated a dynamic artistic journey shaped by his childhood experiences. Relocating to the suburban outskirts of Houston at the age of five, he quickly developed a passion for the vibrant worlds of cartoons, commercials, and video games. This early fascination ignited a lifelong pursuit of narrative art, reflecting the overstimulated landscape of his generation. In search of turning his passion into a profession, Nathan ventured from Texas to Missouri to enroll at the Kansas City Art Institute. The four years he spent there were transformative, exposing him to a wealth of influences that starkly contrasted with his quieter Southern upbringing. It was during this period that he discovered the captivating realms of anime, Yoshitoshi's ukiyo-e prints, sideshows, and comics—elements that would shape his artistic voice and inspire the happily twisted path he continues to explore today. After graduating in 1997, Nathan sought to refine his illustration skills in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. However, after two years of limited success and a frustrating stint as an offset pressman, he and his wife took a bold step, relocating to New York in 2000. There, Nathan enrolled in the prestigious School of Visual Arts, where he pursued a graduate program in Illustration as Visual Essay. This pivotal two-year experience unleashed his creative potential, allowing him to fully embrace his role as an illustrator and storyteller. Since completing his graduate studies, Nathan has thrived as a full-time artist, weaving intricate narratives through his art and captivating audiences with his distinctive style.
