Lorenzo Vitturi

Bio

Lorenzo Vitturi, born in Venice in 1980 and now based in London, is a distinguished Italian photographer whose work intricately weaves together the threads of photography, design, and site-specific interventions. A graduate of the Instituto o di Design in Rome, Vitturi honed his artistic sensibilities during a two-year residency at Fabrica, the Benetton Centre for Research in Communication (2005-2007). His unique background as a cinema set painter deeply influences his photographic approach, allowing him to manipulate space, light, and raw materials to create immersive narratives that resonate with both personal and collective themes. In 2013, Vitturi debuted his first photobook, *Dalston Anatomy*, a striking exploration of East London’s Ridley Road Market. This project involved crafting makeshift sculptures from found objects—fruits, vegetables, fabrics, and various trinkets—collected from the market. Some elements were used in their natural state, while others were intentionally allowed to decompose or were vividly dyed. Through this process, Vitturi sought to capture and distill the market’s vibrant essence before the tides of gentrification altered it irreversibly. *Dalston Anatomy* garnered critical acclaim, earning a shortlist spot for both the Aperture and MACK First Book Awards, and was celebrated as one of the best books of the year by luminaries such as Martin Parr and Erik Kessels, as well as by *The New York Times*. Vitturi's artistic achievements continued to flourish when he was honored with the 2014 Photography Prize at the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography. His work has been exhibited in prestigious venues, including Foam in Amsterdam, The Photographers’ Gallery in London, Yossi Milo Gallery in New York, and CNA in Luxembourg.
