Linda Brownlee is an award-winning Irish photographer celebrated for her distinctive documentary style in portraiture and fashion. With an insatiable curiosity about the human experience, Linda crafts both personal and editorial projects that delve deeply into the authentic and intimate relationships people share with their environments. Among her most acclaimed works is “The Parkers,” a poignant exploration of family life in Hackney, which garnered significant recognition. Additionally, her long-term project “i Zii” offers a tender glimpse into family dynamics in the Sicilian village of Gangi, culminating in a self-published book released in October 2016. Venturing into the realm of directing, Linda debuted with the documentary series “Limber Notes,” showcasing performers of diverse backgrounds united by their passion for dance. Filmed across New York, Brussels, and London, this series captures the essence of her subjects as they practice, fully immersed in their art. She has since collaborated on a variety of moving image projects with notable figures such as Hans Ulrich Obrist, Edie Campbell, and Simone Rocha, including the critically acclaimed “Hong Kong Dress,” which was nominated for the 2016 Milan Fashion Film Festival. Linda's photographic journey began with the publication of her first photo book, “Achill,” in 2010, followed by “Hydrangea Etc” published by AAD in 2014. Her compelling imagery has graced the walls of prestigious venues such as the National Portrait Gallery in London (2013 Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize), the Gallery of Photography in Dublin, and the Yinka Shonibare Space, among others.
