Bio

Laurent Chéhère is a dynamic French artist, born in the vibrant heart of Paris in the 20th century. He currently resides in Ménilmontant, a lively neighborhood that serves as a microcosm of global cultures—a true Tower of Babel where diverse stories converge. This working-class district is not only his home but also his primary source of inspiration, guiding his artistic journey and fueling his passion for travel and human narratives from around the world. Chéhère's artistic practice is as varied as his interests, spanning the spectrum of photography from engaging reportage to thought-provoking conceptual works. His explorations take him beyond the familiar streets of Paris, delving into cities, suburbs, and countries, each visit revealing new perspectives and stories. His work has garnered significant recognition, showcased at prestigious events such as ParisPhoto 2013, the Phnom Penh Festival in , and the Seoul Lunar Festival in South Korea in 2015. Notable exhibitions also include the Lumière Brothers Gallery in Moscow, the National Museum in Bogotá during the 2015 Fotografica Festival, and the Caumont Art Center in Aix-en-Provence. His creations have been featured in the Fence Festival in New York, the Museum of Civilizations in Marseille, the Hudson River Museum, and the Commeter, Persiehl & Heine Gallery in Hamburg, culminating in a display at the Coral Gables Museum in Miami in 2019. In recognition of his contributions to the art world, a book was published by Kehrer Editions in conjunction with ParisPhoto 2018, further cementing his status as a compelling voice in contemporary photography.
