Bio
Born in the vibrant city of Chicago, Justin French is a distinguished photographic artist renowned for his profound exploration of social issues, oppression, and injustice. Through his lens, he seeks to illuminate the rich tapestry of human diversity, with a particular focus on uplifting the voices of the LGBTQI community and people of color. Justin’s compelling work has garnered international acclaim, appearing in prestigious publications such as i-D, Dazed and Confused, T Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, Vogue Italia, and the Wall Street Journal. His innovative vision has also attracted collaborations with renowned global brands, including Apple. In 2017, Justin marked a significant milestone by participating in his first fine art exhibition as part of Red Hook Labs’ inaugural ‘Labs New Artists.’ He has since showcased his work in esteemed galleries, including the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) in San Francisco, the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, and MoMA PS1 in New York. Notably, in 2019, he was featured in ‘The New Black Vanguard: Photography Between Art and Fashion,’ curated by Antwaun Sargent, at Aperture in New York. Currently, Justin balances his artistic endeavors between London and New York, continuing to challenge and inspire through his evocative photography.
