Bio
Juliana and Nicola, collectively known as the Giraffe Sisters, are dynamic multidisciplinary artists based in Los Angeles, CA. Their work seamlessly blends surreal landscapes and character-driven narratives, drawing inspiration from their unique upbringing in the vibrant world of Hollywood, a strong foundation in fine art, and an intriguing background in mime training. Hailing from the San Fernando Valley, where an Argentine mother and British father nurtured their creativity, Juliana and Nicola embody the essence of first-generation Valley girls. Their imaginations flourished amidst the whimsical contrasts of Tim Burton’s Burbank and the pastoral beauty of the British countryside, providing a rich tapestry of influences that inform their artistic vision. From a young age, the sisters have collaborated on creative projects, showcasing their innate synergy. Their paths momentarily diverged when Nicola ventured to London to pursue fine art at Central Saint Martins, while Juliana honed her skills in cinematography at the prestigious Art Center College of Design. However, their shared passion for art and adventure soon drew them back together, leading them to leave university early in pursuit of hands-on experience and the joy of creating side by side. Together, they continue to explore the intersection of their diverse backgrounds and artistic talents, captivating audiences with their imaginative storytelling and striking visuals.
