Josh Frizzell
Bio
Josh Frizzell is one of Australasia’s most well-established and well-respected commercial film directors. During his illustrious career, Josh has established himself as an industry heavy weight and is highly sought after in Australasia, Europe and Asia. With a reputation as one of the most capable and hardest working directors in the business, Josh’s vast portfolio of work incorporates every conceivable style and discipline, from comedy to drama, from low fi in-camera effects to large-scale visual effects, from big name Hollywood actors to unearthed local unknowns. Born into a creative family of artists and bohemians, Josh’s first foray into the film industry was as an art director. After directing a string of highly awarded music videos, Josh turned his talents to commercials. He won his first Cannes Lion in 1996. Josh has also directed TV drama for the BBC and SPP. His drama credits include “‘Go Girls” (2012), “Nothing Trivial” (2013), “Tatau” (2014), “The Brokenwood Mysteries” (2015) and “The Brokenwood Mysteries” (2017). He received Best Director nominations at the NZ TV Awards in 2017 and 2022.
