John Merizalde is a dynamic filmmaker from Atlanta, Georgia, who was born to a Colombian family. He chose to drop out of college to pursue his passion for filmmaking independently, ultimately making his way to Los Angeles in 2013. Merizalde began directing music videos and gained recognition when he was nominated for Best New Director at the 2016 UK Music Video Awards for his work on SG Lewis's 'Holding Back.' His short film 'Incel' premiered at SXSW in 2019, further showcasing his talent. With a diverse portfolio that includes music videos, commercials, documentaries, and narrative films, his work has been highlighted on platforms such as Vimeo Staff Picks, BBC3, and The Atlantic. Notably, he co-directed the internationally acclaimed documentary for Depeche Mode, 'Spirits in the Forest,' which premiered in 70 countries and became one of the highest-grossing theatrical concert films of 2019.
