Bio

Jean-Baptiste Degez is a Paris-based still life photographer and videographer whose artistic journey is as dynamic as the subjects he captures. His fascination with photography ignited during his formative years at L’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he recognized the medium as a powerful means to explore diverse landscapes and connect with people on a profound human and spiritual level. Initially embarking on a career as a reporter, Jean-Baptiste blended his craving for adventure with his newfound passion, embarking on a remarkable journey that took him across the globe. After years of exploration and embracing his role as the patriarch of his family, he returned to Paris to establish his own photography studio. It was here that he transitioned from the practicality of Nikon cameras to the artistry of a Sinar large-format system, delving into the captivating realm of still life photography. Jean-Baptiste believes that art should transcend conventional boundaries, and his work reflects this ethos. He refuses to be confined by the rigid standards often associated with still life photography, instead embracing the freedom of creative expression. Equally at home in his studio and in the great outdoors, he has ventured to the remote landscapes of Alaska to capture stunning imagery for the luxury watch brand Ulysse Nardin (Kering Group). This exhilarating experience of photographing timepieces against the backdrop of untamed wilderness allowed him to seamlessly blend still life and landscape photography, enriching his artistic repertoire. Through his lens, Jean-Baptiste Degez invites viewers to experience a world where adventure and artistry converge, crafting visual narratives that resonate with both the heart and the imagination.
