Jason Schmidt is an acclaimed photographer and director renowned for his evocative portraits of artists and cultural icons, as well as his striking representations of architecture and interiors. A proud New York native, Schmidt honed his artistic vision with a degree in art history from Columbia University in 1992, laying the foundation for a career that seamlessly blends artistic insight with technical mastery. Since embarking on his photographic journey in 1995, Schmidt has captured the essence of over 700 contemporary fine artists, creating an extensive visual archive that celebrates the vibrancy of the art world. His first book, *Artists*, was published in 2007, followed by *Artists II* (Steidl) in 2015, both of which have garnered critical acclaim. His work has been showcased in prestigious exhibitions at venues such as Deitch Projects in New York, The Margulies Collection in Miami, and The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, further solidifying his status as a pivotal figure in contemporary photography. In addition to his fine art contributions, Schmidt is a sought-after photographer for leading publications, including *Architectural Digest*, *The New York Times T Magazine*, *Vogue*, *W*, and *Wallpaper**.
