Bio

Jameela Elfaki is a dynamic London-based artist whose multifaceted practice spans photography, filmmaking, creative direction, and sound. With a profound commitment to exploring themes of identity, representation, and the visibility of women and non-binary people of colour, Jameela’s work draws deeply from her own dual heritage, illuminating the complex narratives that arise from the intersections of diverse cultures and beliefs. As the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the independent magazine and creative agency AZEEMA, Jameela has established a vital platform that champions underrepresented voices in the arts. Under her leadership, AZEEMA garnered recognition as a nominee for The DAZED 100 in 2021, reflecting its impact within the creative community. Jameela's contributions to the industry have not gone unnoticed; in 2019, she was awarded the PPA 30 under 30 New Talent Award, celebrating her innovative approach and fresh perspective. Furthermore, her participation in the Black Business Incubator at Somerset House in 2022 underscores her commitment to nurturing creativity and fostering collaboration within the arts. Through her work, Jameela Elfaki continues to challenge conventions and inspire dialogue, making a significant mark in contemporary art.
