Jai Lennard is an esteemed photographer based in New York City, renowned for his ability to weave narratives of perseverance, triumph, legacy, love, and strength throughout his diverse body of work. Drawing from his background as a performing artist, Jai possesses a profound respect for all artistic disciplines, which allows him to forge genuine connections with his subjects and create evocative imagery that resonates deeply with viewers. Raised in the vibrant Bay Area of Northern California, Jai's artistic journey is influenced by his family's rich heritage in Texas and Louisiana. His early years were steeped in the performing arts—dance, music, and theater—where he cultivated a passion for storytelling. Jai's formal education began at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he began to take photography seriously. He further honed his craft in London, where he completed his first photography course, before ultimately earning a BA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he has resided in Brooklyn ever since. In addition to his editorial and commercial work, Jai is the founder of Color Positive, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Black photographers, stylists, and directors within the editorial and commercial landscape. Color Positive not only promotes the work of artists but also serves as a mentorship platform, bridging connections between established professionals and youth in NYC schools. Jai's impressive client roster includes prestigious names such as The Hollywood Reporter, CNN, HBO, The New York Times, Warby Parker, and Club Monaco, showcasing his versatility and keen eye for compelling visual storytelling.
