Ilias Walchshofer
Bio
Ilias Walchshofer's artistic journey is as diverse and dynamic as the landscapes he has traversed. Born and raised in Austria, he spent his formative years in Linz before soaking up the vibrant culture of Casablanca during the summers. This rich tapestry of experiences led him to Berlin, where he honed his craft at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences. Today, Ilias calls Paris home, where he continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression. Driven by a profound passion for film, Ilias dedicated several years to the film industry, producing a range of international commercials and music videos. It was during his teenage years that he adopted the alias "Dr Propolus," a name that would soon become synonymous with his unique artistic vision. His early sketches on vintage print magazine pages not only ignited his career but also laid the foundation for the striking illustrations he is celebrated for today. Ilias's fine-art illustrations are distinguished by intricate monochrome overlays that transform photography into realms of grit, fantasy, and humor. These distinctive elements have become hallmarks of his aesthetic, captivating audiences and collectors alike. Throughout his career, Ilias has masterfully navigated the interplay between personal expression and commissioned work. He has collaborated with esteemed photographers, artists, and brands, creating compelling imagery for campaigns, editorials, and exhibitions.
