Garrett's journey into the world of photography began in the sun-soaked landscapes of Los Angeles, where he first picked up a camera to capture the exhilarating moments of his friends riding the waves. What started as a casual pastime quickly transformed into a passionate pursuit that eclipsed even his love for surfing itself. Determined to deepen his understanding of the medium, Garrett enrolled at the Brooks Institute of Photography (R.I.P.), where he charted a unique path by majoring in Industrial/Scientific photography, diverging from the more conventional focuses of Commercial or Portraiture. This unconventional choice allowed him to explore the dynamic interplay of light and shadow, honing his ability to capture the intricate details that often go unnoticed. Today, Garrett specializes in sports, fitness, and lifestyle photography, earning acclaim for his talent in revealing the authentic, unscripted beauty of movement.
