Bio

Frederike, originally hailing from Hamburg, Germany, embarked on her artistic journey in the vibrant city of London during the early 1990s. Over the span of two decades, she established a formidable presence in the editorial and commercial photography scene, contributing her unique vision to notable publications such as i-D and The Face. Currently, Frederike is immersed in a series of deeply personal projects that reflect her rich experiences as an editorial photographer, delving into themes of social documentary, portraiture, and still life. Her creative exploration has yielded significant publications, beginning with her self-published work, *Propaganda*, followed by *Rundgang*, a collaboration with Here Press. Her most recent endeavor, *Kriegskinder*, is a poignant long-term project initiated in 2014 that investigates the identities and personal histories of individuals who grew up in post-war Germany. This evocative work was published by Hatje Cantz and further solidifies her commitment to exploring the complexities of memory and identity through her lens. Frederike continues to reside in London, where she remains dedicated to her artistic practice, consistently pushing the boundaries of photography and storytelling.
