F. Scott Schafer is a distinguished American photographer based in Los Angeles, celebrated for his striking portraiture that encapsulates the essence of prominent personalities and entertainers. An honored graduate of the Art Center College of Design, Scott has spent over 25 years honing a unique visual language that blends concept, humor, and masterful lighting. His award-winning work has garnered acclaim from a diverse array of high-profile clients, including Intel, HBO, Showtime, Aflac, Sonos, Yahoo!, Netflix, and Pepsi. Among his most notable achievements is a series of captivating portraits of influential figures such as President Barack Obama, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps, Tennis Champion Serena Williams, Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady, and basketball legend LeBron James. Scott's artistic journey has taken him far beyond the confines of Hollywood. He has traveled extensively through Southeast Asia, India, and Nepal, where he captured poignant black-and-white portraits of the remarkable people he encountered using a vintage Polaroid camera. These powerful images resonate with timelessness and authenticity. Currently, Scott is immersed in a deeply moving project titled "WORDS UNCAGED." This series features intimate portraits of inmates at California State Prison in Lancaster who are serving life sentences without the possibility of parole. In collaboration with California State University, Los Angeles, Scott pairs these evocative images with the writings and artwork of these remarkable men, who are on a journey of self-education and rehabilitation, striving to uplift their fellow inmates. When he is not behind the camera, Scott cherishes time spent with his wife, Valerie, their two young daughters, Parker and Harlow, and their beloved dog, Monty.
