Doan Ly is the visionary and creative director of a.p. bio, an innovative floral design and photography studio nestled in the vibrant heart of New York. Originally hailing from Vietnam, Doan immigrated to the United States at the tender age of eight, spending her formative years in Minnesota—where she famously snowshoed her way to school, embodying both resilience and creativity from an early age. With a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and a Master of Fine Arts from the esteemed Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, Doan’s academic journey laid the foundation for her artistic exploration. Her work is a captivating tapestry woven from the colors and textures of the flowers that grace her studio, alongside the diverse array of guests, assistants, and even the occasional lunch delivery person who become integral parts of her creative process. This ensemble transforms into a dynamic cast of performers and subjects for her photography and videography, all set against the backdrop of her floral design endeavors, both grand and intimate. Through this unique interaction, Doan seeks to infuse a sense of playfulness and beauty into the fabric of everyday life. Currently, Doan Ly divides her time between the artistic hubs of Paris and New York, continually drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of cultures and experiences that surround her.
