Dick Sweeney

Bio

At 19 Dick Sweeney found himself working at a bus station some where in the Middle East, where he hustled backpackers to stay at a youth hostel. This day, as often happend, the soldiers had closed down the place as a suspect bomb had been found; not uncommon for those parts. Instead of allowing himself to be ushered out of his hunting ground, he grabbed his friend's Pentax and snuck round the back to capture a bomb disposal expert take out the offending device. Hedging his bets that it was unlikely to go off, Dick fired off a few frames until he was spotted and carted away by the authorities. It was in that moment that it all came together for him. He was both a witness and a participant, and walked the tightrope of the experience with aplomb. To this day you will still find him close to some form of action, awaiting a moment to reveal itself. A drama to unfurl or a cinematic vision to direct. Often there is a release of joy in the darkness. Slightly edgy, very real and imbued with a sense of purpose.
