Devyn Galindo
Bio
Devyn Galindo (they/them) is a dynamic nonbinary Mexihkah transdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles, on Tongva Tierra. Their practice spans photography, mixed media, and filmmaking, often created from the open road, reflecting their fearless nomadic spirit. Devyn's work intricately weaves together the physical and spiritual realms, celebrating the voices of Queer, Trans, Brown, and Black communities. A central theme in their art is the disruption of the white cis-heteronormative patriarchal lens, as they strive to illuminate the highest versions of humanity. "I want people to see the best in themselves through my work," Devyn expresses. "That is how I see them; it’s the spirit I wish to convey." Devyn's notable projects include the impactful *We Are Still Here* (2017), which garnered attention from i-D Magazine, Remezcla, and the 2017 NY Art Book Fair at LACMA, as well as being featured in Printed Matter’s Activism book list. Their ongoing series, *The Van Dykes Project* (2018-Present), spans three volumes and has been highlighted in Hyperallergic, Dyke Queen, and i-D Magazine. This project aims to document the voices of queer elders and contemporary figures, preserving oral histories for future generations while practicing activism through art. Inspired by the radical caravans of the 1970s, *The Van Dykes Project* serves as a poignant reminder of walking with intention, gratitude, and community, allowing ancestors, plantitas, and mushrooms to guide us. It embodies the belief that time is nonbinary, and we are all interconnected across generations.
