In the September issue of British Vogue’s influential "Forces for Change" article, journalist Felicia Pennant proclaimed, “You need to commit the name Danika Magdelena to memory.” Known on Instagram as @Sirius_Film, Danika chose her moniker based on Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, reflecting her own radiant creativity and vision. Danika's journey in photography began in 2014, capturing the vibrant atmosphere of London parties with her trusty point-and-shoot film camera. By 2015, she had evolved her craft, taking on roles as director, stylist, and photographer for her own fashion narratives. Her debut photo book, ‘Sirius Nostalgia,’ released in 2019, celebrated five years of her most iconic work. That same year, she garnered attention when Vogue commissioned her to document the Women's World Cup, solidifying her position in the industry. Today, Danika wields a Nikon SLR, working with some of the most recognized names in fashion, sports, and entertainment. Her latest venture, ‘Girl’s Don’t Cry,’ originated as a university project focused on moving images but has blossomed into a powerful platform advocating for positive mental health awareness and self-expression, connecting like-minded young women. In an interview with Dazed magazine, Danika articulated her creative ethos: “My manifesto is about capturing candid moments with the people I shoot, allowing the vibe to translate naturally through the photograph.” This authentic approach resonates with a wide audience on Instagram, where her nostalgic yet contemporary perspective on youth culture has captivated sports stars, musicians, and creatives alike. Notable figures such as Serena Williams, Jourdan Dunn, and Raheem have graced her lens, while British television presenter Maya Jama has named her as her go-to photographer.
