Brian Doben is a distinguished photographer renowned for his captivating “At Work” series, which vividly chronicles the diverse lives of individuals—from tattoo artists and sumo wrestlers to chemists and prosthetic limb designers—wherever their passions lead them. This ambitious project has taken him across the globe, capturing the essence of human endeavor in vibrant locales such as Los Angeles, Tokyo, Mumbai, Cuba, Israel, Sydney, and throughout the United States. “At Work” serves as both a visual exploration and a celebration of how people engage with their unique callings, revealing the intricacies of their professions. In 2013, Brian showcased a selection of his “At Work” portraits in a beautifully curated book of the same name, alongside a prominent exhibition at the prestigious photography festival Les Rencontres d’Arles. Since then, he has continued to expand this remarkable body of work, consistently releasing new portraits that highlight the rich tapestry of human experience. Beyond the “At Work” series, Brian’s editorial photography has brought him to some of the most extraordinary places on Earth, including Madagascar, Antarctica, and the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. His assignments for esteemed publications such as Vanity Fair, Travel & Leisure, and Town & Country have deepened his understanding of the diverse ways in which cultures approach meaningful work, allowing him to infuse a sense of authenticity into every image he captures.
