Bettina Lewin
Bio
Bettina Lewin, born in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony, Germany, has nurtured a passion for photography since the age of nine, as fondly recalled by her cousin. After completing her high school education, she ventured to Barcelona, where she embarked on her professional journey as a photographer for the independent magazine V.O. It was here that she showcased her innovative spirit by executing a groundbreaking campaign for a Spanish fashion brand using just four rolls of film and a single lens—an endeavor that sent the art director into a frenzy yet resulted in widespread acclaim and publication across Spain. Following nearly three years in Barcelona, Bettina relocated to Hamburg, where she honed her craft as an assistant for an additional three years. Her career then took a new direction as she stepped into the role of beauty editor for twelve years, all the while maintaining her enduring love for photography. In 1998, she and her husband Thorsten founded LEWIN, a bespoke clothing and accessories company that reflects their shared vision and creativity. In 2001, Bettina returned to her true calling as a full-time photographer, seamlessly blending her editorial experience with her artistic vision. Today, she divides her time between Hamburg and New York, continually pushing the boundaries of her art and capturing compelling narratives through her lens.
