Andrew Macpherson
Bio
Andrew, a London native, was born into a world steeped in glamour and speed, with his mother helming a couture dress shop and his father carving a name as a race car driver. This vibrant backdrop ignited his imagination, as he immersed himself in the allure of fashion and racing through the pages of magazines that lined their home. At the age of thirteen, Andrew discovered his true passion for photography—a revelation that would shape his future. Determined to pursue his artistic vision, he left school at fifteen and embarked on his professional journey at a photo production house in Fleet Street. Despite its dreary atmosphere reminiscent of Dickensian tales, this gritty environment served as a crucial stepping stone in his career. Here, he honed his skills and gained invaluable experience, eventually working alongside renowned photographers such as Lord Snowdon, Horst, Fabrizio Gianni, and Ed White. His breakthrough came at twenty-two when his first fashion story was published in Harpers & Queen. Over the next eighteen months, Andrew's distinctive style and keen eye garnered attention from London's leading fashion publications, including i-D, The Face, and The Sunday Times, as well as the short-lived yet iconic Jill magazine from Paris. His rapid success caught the attention of Vogue, the pinnacle of fashion photography, leading to commissions in London, Paris, and ultimately, Italian Vogue—an aspirational achievement for any emerging photographer. As his prominence grew, so did his collaborations with major brands, capturing campaigns for Diesel Jeans, Levi’s, Dunhill, Kookai, and Ray-Ban, among others. It was during these location shoots that Andrew discovered the sun-kissed beauty of California, a place that would soon become his home. In 1994, he made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, where he continued to thrive in the entertainment industry. Since then, Andrew has established himself as a sought-after photographer, skillfully crafting movie posters, album covers, and editorial shoots that resonate across the globe. His journey is a testament to his relentless passion for photography and his ability to capture the dynamic essence of both fashion and entertainment.
